"How I Built This" Blog Post

The podcast that I chose to listen to was "Stacy's Pita Chips: Stacy Madison (2019)" https://www.npr.org/2021/08/04/1024913084/stacys-pita-chips-stacy-madison-2019 .  This podcast is related to my topic because it talks about the food industry and mentions food in general. It also talks about how nutrition affects the sales of pita chips. Stacy mentions how she thought that her sales were going to go down because not as many people were eating carbs and more of the healthier food brands were rising. Every food brand had a backbone of nutrition and it can affect your business and how much of your product you sell.

Stacy Madison was the founder of Stacy's pita chips. She grew up in the suburbs of Boston and thought that she was going to be in the psychology field until she discovered her love for food. Stacy lived in Hawaii for a portion of her life and while she was there she would sell dinners to people in her building. When she moved back to Boston she started a food cart selling sandwiches made with pita bread. She would bake the leftover pita bread from her sandwiches and give them to the people waiting in line for her cart. People loved the pita chips so much that they started asking where they could buy them, so she started selling small bags of pita chips from her cart. Stacy's pita chips started to become loved by more and more people and she decided that she needed to grow her business.

Stacy ended up selling her pita chips in grocery stores and she ended up dedicating her life to this business. Once she decided that she had a steady income and enough time, she decided that she wanted to start a family. In 2003 she ended up having twin daughters through IVF and raised them on her own. She ended up selling her brand to PepsiCo and made more money than she could have ever imagined. She wanted her daughters to have a normal and happy life, so she chose not to raise them in a big house with no neighbors. She wanted them to have a normal childhood, so she moved to a suburban neighborhood and sent her kids to public school. she is a kind woman who wanted normalcy for her kids. Stacy got her success through hard work & determination, and not through luck & timing, because when you really want to achieve something anything is possible. Stacy's Pita Chips Cinnamon Sugar, 1.5 oz, 24 Count | Oriental Trading
